A Philanderer's First Foray

Greetings,

You are now feasting your eyes upon the first of an ongoing series of possibly sensical ramblings, that could be classified by some as: philosophical.

The purpose of this blog is two-fold. My primary goal is to prepare myself for graduate school which begins in August of 2010. I've been out of school for two full years and will use this as an opportunity to de-rust my analytical, argumentative, exegetical and semantical skills. My secondary goal is to provide entertaining and perhaps enlightening commentary on written pieces of philosophy. The readings I will focus on will be chosen at my whim.

I consider myself a philanderer of philosophy, because while I am married to one certain belief (that there is a Good, and we humans are able to know it), I often have casual, non-commital, encounters with some bizarre, even sexy, areas of philosophy (none of which necessarily contradict or are even related to my aforementioned marriage). Also, Socratic modesty will hopefully play a role in my writings - that is I won't take myself to be an expert on any one matter, and will candidly admit what/when I do not know...which is a lot.

I am currently reading Burdened Virtues by Lisa Tessman. My next post will outline the first couple chapters of her book and what this contemporary badass feminist all about.
>>>THE GOOD>>>

Until then, I bid you adieu.
J.A.
